Living Art is having a fundraiser tonight…Blossom is volunteering as the volunteer coordinator (She is a past board member) and Troy is the photographer. Blossom’s Bed and Breakfast is a proud sponsor of this organization dedicated to helping us deal with victims of cancer through the arts.
This is an important day for all members of the University community, the students, and their families. For Blossom’s Bed and Breakfast, it is also important because some of the parents of those graduating have stayed here many times. This family relationship creates a bond so that Blossom and I share in the sense of accomplishment and happiness.
This year Wanda and Steve booked the whole BnB for their family to celebrate the graduation of their daughter Jamie in the School of Pharmacy. A happy final touch to their many stays over the past few years. What a wonderful family…Blossom and I are truly blessed.

Proud Trio

Does it get any better than this?
The University of Montana Business School hosts the annual John Ruffatto Business Plan Competition. Blossom’s Bed and Breakfast is a proud sponsor of the event because it promotes the development of sound businesses here in Montana. Also, it is fun, interesting and inspiring to be around the judges and students as they compete for significant cash prizes for their business ideas and development. It is just one of the many things that make our community special.
May’s First Friday event in Missoula was terrific this year. The downtown has an abundance of galleries: photography, sculptures, paintings, ceramics, and local crafts. First Friday is a prime showcase of the talent and culture found in Missoula on the First Friday of every month.
Here is a shot of the entrance of Missoula Art Museum www.missoulaartmuseum.org.
One exhibit of note was the national exhibition of cast iron art is sponsored by the Western Cast Iron Art Alliance (WCIAA), Missoula Art Museum, and the UM School of Art. It is amazing all of the art forms done in the medium of cast iron.
Last night the Concerto/Aria Concert was fabulous. It featured Lauren Gibson who is the winner of the 2009/2010 Concerto/Aria competition and she was wonderful. Here is a picture of her and her proud mom just after the concert. Great family, great music…it just doesn’t get any better.

We are so proud to have the Missoula Children’s Theatre in our city. For almost 35 years they have provided quality education, entertainment, and enrichment for all ages through the performing arts. Our kids all participated in the plays growing up and we are left with many fond memories.
We have been giving back to this excellent organization by donating lodging for their traveling directors. Here is a photo of Linda and Jeffery getting ready to head out for the season after a long stay at the bed and breakfast. They are on their way (with costumes, scrips, and all) to Japan!
The little red trucks are famous. There is an award winning documentary out on their travels and experiences. Check it out at http://www.thelittleredtruck.com/home.html.

What a big night for Missoula. It is so great for us to get this level of entertainment from one of the Jazz greats. We’ll be taking advantage of this and walking over to the University Theatre for what looks like a great Missoula Jazz event. Welcome back to Missoula Buddy DeFranco!
Today Greg and I hiked to the top of MT Jumbo from the back door of the Bed and Breakfast. It was a beautiful spring day about 65 deg F. The hike took just over 2 hours round trip. The view is incredable looking out across the 5 valley region and it’s 3 rivers.
We saw two new flowers that we couldn’t identify. Can you?
The University of Montana FLAT organization had an open house to celebrate earth day. The house is an University real life example of living sustainability by doing things like having a year around garden, solar panels, chickens, a real time electric usage monitor, and a host of other things. The University of Montana is moving an energy livable world ahead. Here are a couple of pictures.
Finally cooled off today but yesterday I saw these flowers for the first time. The temperature got close to 80 two days in a row and the rivers started coming up and these flowers did not want to miss the early action.
